Jamaican Farewell

This poem was inspired by Ananda Only and his story about his beloved brother. https://anandaonly.in/2017/08/28/there-are-always-songs-to-sing/

Your spirit is in my heart forever,
Even on days when life seems still.
The wind races past my ears – I know it's you,
softly whisper - "my brother, I am with you."

I see another boy that stutters; I think of you.
Your kindness to others what mattered. It made you free.
You were the healer, sage, and saint
to savage brothers just like me.

Forgiveness and your love without reasons
Complete and is in its bright light.
I will forever cherish with my armor,
Protect the memories of you like a brave knight.

Twenty-five years, blessed with your presence.
Twenty-five years of brotherly love
Remembering your smile – I think about heavens
Your smiles light up the stars above.

The loss, the hardship, and heart burden
became my journey and helped me see-through.
The wind races past my ears – I know it's you,
softly whisper- "my brother, I am with you."

Your smile and your spirit will never extinguish.
Will carry on like Calypso rhythms along the shores.
Will play Jamaican Farewell by Harry Belafonte,
The one, most favorite of yours.

The wind races past my ears – I know it's you,
softly whisper- "my brother, I am with you."
"But I'm sad to say I'm on my way.
Won't be back for many a day."
