Not my Friend, Not My Foe

You aren’t my friend; you aren’t my foe
      You aren’t my lover anymore.
A friend is the one who’s always there
ready to give a helping hand.
A friend is the one who deeply cares,
whose trust doesn’t blow away like sand.
A friend is the one who doesn’t text
a dreary and insincere “Hello”
But someone who calls without doubt,
with cheerful words that are healing like aloe.
A friend is the one who knows you well
Who doesn’t compete and doesn’t pretend.
Doesn’t create an illusion of friendship.
A friend helps to bear hardship.
You aren’t my friend; you aren’t my foe
You aren’t my lover anymore.

  1. Well-written. A friend is not someone who waits for me to text them. A friend is not someone who replies “I am too busy” to look at your art, without making the time later. I am also busy, and my time is precious. Life is too short to deal with fake friends.
